Haydarpaşa Historical Train Station and Kadıköy, Istanbul

Haydarpaşa Train Station had been the major intersection node of all marine and rail roads by the beginning of suburban train system at Anatolian side of Istanbul in 1930s.  The Station building had always been a gateway for Istanbul until it was closed. The Station acts as the northern end of Kadıköy natural harbor as well.  Haydarpaşa, one of the most important symbols of the city, is preserved with its historical architecture and closer open spaces, and rails and traverses will exist in a new natural landscape to be transferred to next generations.

Kadıköy inlet and waterfront is kept at their original stone port limit. Some functions have been protected and some have been altered according to required demands of the district, such as art and culture community, recreational belt, and new daily urban spaces. Proximity to main Kadıköy Square and adjacent district of Moda help the waterfront to be united with the rest of the area both physically and visually., via public decks, sea promenade, and pedestrian bridge.
