Kayapınar Urban Square
Diyarbakır Kayapınar Urban Square
A new ‘urban façade’ has been designed for Diyarbakır, an urban square (maidan / hol) in the northwestern part of the city center, adapting several functions in a spatial organization. Its eastern end creates a boundary with the boulevard that can be called as “Melting Steps”. These steps turn into sitting steps at certain points, then decrease in height and are connected on surface, and repeat this pattern many times to orient water plays and the amphitheater. The southern end of the Urban Square houses an artificial planted hill that is triangular. The areas around the Urban Square are connected via a curvilinear walking route on which there is a steel arcade. The playground has many amusing activities for children, shallow pools, cat and dog parks, book café, sports-exercise grounds, and running tracks have a lot of enjoying activities for everybody who can find something for themselves.
Diyarbakır Kayapınar Urban Square, located on the Selahattin Eyyübi Boulevard, occupies an area of 62.570 m2.
