Uludağ National Park: A New Skiing Center in Nature
National Architectural, Landscape Planning and Urban Design Project Competition on the 1st and the 2nd Development Zones of Uludağ National Park
The recreational and touristic skiing center of Uludag mountain in Bursa, that had been declared as National Park in 1961, has spectacular richness of flora and fauna, and is a first-degree natural protection area. Transportation to National Park can be provided by three modes: vehicular road that climbing to higher levels of the mountain; cable cars; and chair lifts. Besides there are various walking courses at the base level of the valley and on the north-south slope.
‘Tor’, rocky formation peculiar to Uludağ, has been the major inspiration for our both architectural and landscape design decisions. The 1st development zone has the Hotels and ‘TOR’ building that is an Entertainment Center. 2nd development zone is more planned compared to the 1st, therefore we have proposed street cafes, retail and souvenir shops, and recreational spaces. For sports project has had several ice-skating, ice hockey, curling, soccer and basketball fields, artificial skiing platform, lawn-skiing area, and a land for parasports.
This project won the first prize in the Project Competition for Uludağ National Park that has 27.300-hectare project area in 2010.
